Qatar Re has appointed Alastair Speare- Cole as Chief Underwriting Officer who joins from JLT Re, where he served as Chief Executive Officer since 2012. Speare-Cole replaces Willi Schürch who retires from his current role as Chief Underwriting Officer.

Alastair has more than 30 years of experience in reinsurance across all lines of business. He initially started his career as a graduate trainee at Jardine Matheson. Alastair graduated from University of Oxford in Geology and Geophysics. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, a Chartered Insurance Professional and a Fellow of the Geological Society in the UK.
